I so love that TCM is featuring directors this month. Particularly, they are featuring some of my favorites, like Orson Welles on June 16.

TCM says: Join us for a mini-tribute to one of the most flamboyant, experimental and influential directors of all time featuring such landmark films as Citizen Kane (1941), The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) and The Trial (1963).

I'm so glad to see the TCM is showing The White Sister with Ronald Colman. It will be on tomorrow night (or Monday morning) at 12midnight. This is a film that really helped Colman rise to stardom when he co-starred with Lilian Gish.

January 2008 - I'm working on renovating all of my sites at Classic Movie Favorites, and it is no small task since I have over 30 star, director and film sites. So, it will take me quite a while to complete and, it may be that by the time I get my renovation almost done, it will be time to start over again.

However, check out the site I've just finished about Clark Gable that now includes lots of video clips and trailers from his films. Check them out. Look for additional changes to more of my sites in 2008!

It never seems that I achieve all I wish to do with the time I have to do it, so I've been moving slower then I'd like. However, I'm plodding along and will continue to let you know of new changes, as they occur. Here's a list of recent ones:

John Gilbert site completely redesigned to include many video clips. See Gilbert talk
Greta Garbo site has lots of new photos and also lots of video clips from her films

Both sites have the videos in streaming format and in .mp4 so you can download them to your ipod. As time permits, I'll continue to add more and more videos.

What I've been doing since November

I know that Classic Movie Favorites (CMF) hasn't had too many updates since November, but I have been working hard. I have been working on sites for profit since that time. However, now that those sites are done, I can continue my passion for Classic Movies and update CMF much more often. When I do, I will be sure to post here for all to see what I've been up to and what is new.

What's new at Classic Movie Favorites

I'm working on updating links and information for each actor, actress and director that is featured at the site. I've recently made updates to the following sites:
Charles Boyer - added a clip from the film, Conquest.
Claudette Colbert - added a clip from It Happened One Night and some posters
Eleanor Powell - added three movie clips from Broadway Melody of 1938 and Born to Dance and some movie posters.
Ray Milland - added a movie clip from Lost Weekend and some movie posters.
John Gilbert - added movie clips from Flesh and the Devil and Queen Christina(hear Gilbert speak his dying words) and some photos and posters.

I'll be adding more multimedia content to each of my sites in the coming weeks.

Currently, I'm in the process of renovating my Colman site for a new look and feel.

Keeping Classic Movie Favorites up to date is so much work, I'm not sure I'll be adding any new sites in the coming months, but some that I'm considering are: Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock and Vivien Leigh. I have no idea if I will get to these soon, but I'll keep you posted. Any of your comments about the site are welcome and also, please feel free to let me know if you find any broken links or problem areas. You can comment on the blog or send me an email me here.

Classic Movie Favorites hits a milestone

Classie Movie Favorites has now had over 100,000 visitors since it's opening in August 2004. I'm so pleased that new visitors find the site every day, but also that visitors have continued to support the site by returning to visit, over and over.

Glenn Ford Dies 8/30/06

I have been the webmaster for Peter Ford for a few years now on both his personal site and the site for the biography he's writing about his dad. I was saddened to see that Glenn Ford passed away this past week on 8/30/06. Although 90 years might seem like a ripe old age for someone to live, I know that Peter and his family were very saddened by the passing.

Glenn Ford was truly one of the last great stars of the classic era still with us, and his passing makes it an even deeper blow since we now have one less classic star.

I send my deepest sympathies to Peter and his family.

Hello, I've just uploaded my latest site about the great John Gilbert. Gilbert was a huge star in the silent era who's career was ruined when sound films came in. I didn't understand why this was so and I wanted to understand just what happened. It was said at the time that his voice didn't record well, but I'm now convinced that he could have been successful if his sound debut had been given better handling, like Garbo's was.

I've begun a massive renovation of all of the sites at Classic Movie Favorites. I'm adding content and updating each area with the latest coding. I've already made changes and added new content to the following actor and actress sites: Charles Boyer, Joan Blondell, Ronald Colman, Joan Crawford, Linda Darnell, Joan Fontaine, and David Niven.

It's a hugh undertaking since I have over 25 sites with at least 10 - 35 pages on each.

It's been quite awhile since I've written here; I've been distracted with other web work and haven't had the time I'd like to devote to Classic Movie Favorites. However, now I can spend more time on it and here's an update of upcoming events and news at Classic Movie Favorites.

Clark Gable - I'm developing a site about Clark Gable which I had planned to have online before now, but the site has become so big that it's taking me longer then I thought. The site will be located at this address. It will include a biography, desktop wallpapers, links to other great Gable sitesw, special pages on my favorite Gable films, and over 500 photographs, magazine covers, and posters. I hope to have the site online by August 1. To be notified when the site is online, just send me an email.

A new movie book I think you'll enjoy. Its a book about the play and film A Streetcar Named Desire, called When Blanche Met Brando, by Sam Staggs. I highly recommend it as very interesting reading for all classic movie fans. You can learn more about it and purchase it here.

New Classic Movie Forum replaces PHP Bulletin Board

I'm working furiously on my site which is getting bigger and bigger. Its really lots of fun and I love doing it, so here's what's happening:

- I've just uploaded some new Norma Shearer and Claudette Colbert wallpapers sent to me courtesy of my friend Sylvie, who does lots of great wallpapers. You can see them at these addresses:

- I'm now working on a new site devoted to Clark Gable. I have lots of work to do since there is so much available on the King of Hollywood. I hope to focus less on his Gone With the Wind performance, but more on his other films, which I love. I also hope to have a section on the site about "Gable's women co-stars", which should be quite interesting. I have started working on a site about the great star of classic film, Claudette Colbert. I've had lots of visitors request a site about her so I thought it was worth doing. She is a favorite of mine. I especially like her in such films as Imitation of Life, Cleopatra, It Happened One Night and my most sentimental favorite, Since You Went Away.

Happy New Year to all of my visitors! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a very good new year. I'm looking forward to the new year hoping that it will bring the best to all!

I've been away from the computer alot during the Christmas season, but did manage to complete a new site, about Noah Dietrich, just before Christmas, that I'm writing to tell you about. It is the official and authorized website celebrating his life and career.

Noah Dietrich, was the chief executive officer of the Howard Hughes empire from 1925 - 1957. His step daughter contacted me asking me to do a site about him. With the premier of the new film about Howard Hughes, THE AVIATOR, she thought it important that there was a site on the web providing accurate information on her step father. John C. Riley, plays Mr. Dietrich in the film and it seems to have received both critical and public success.

I have been busy last month working for Peter Ford to update his site. Peter is the son of Eleanor Powell and Glenn Ford and he has added 72 signed photos to his site. I've been working on a new site about the first lady of MGM, Norma Shearer since June. However, during its construction I also decided to purchase the new domain name of Classic Movie Favorites . While I transferred my 30+ sites to their new home at Classic Movie Favorites, I had to put the work on the Norma Shearer site aside. Now that my sites are all transferred (no small feat, I might add), I am now beginning work on this site again. However, since I will be back at work next week, in my regular day job, I won't be able to complete it as soon as I would like. So, I anticipate that this site will be online by October, at the earliest (I hope).

Most of the work has involved getting all of the many links changed so they point to the new domain name. I'm thrilled to tell you that they are all online and ready for viewing. I've done a new index page that should make it easier to find things at the site. There may be a few things still undone which I'm checking now. Today, I purchased a new domain name for Lynn's Classic Movie Favorites which will enable my classic movie sites to be housed under their own domain name. The name is:

It will take me a long time to get the 25+ sites I have moved over to this new domain and all will remain the same at lynnpdesign.com until this work is done. However, once the sites are all moved to their new domain, I will also keep a forward html page on lynnpdesign.com to redirect anyone coming to my site using the old address.

I just finished a site for the son of Glenn Ford about the new biography called "Glenn Ford: A Life in Film". Peter Ford is writing it along with Christopher Nickens, a biographer who has written biographies about alot of Hollywood personalities from Barbra Streisand, Janet Leigh, and Elizabeth Taylor to Marlon Brando. The book is scheduled to be out sometime in early 2005.
